Who We Are

OIP (1).jpg

Rev. Dr Marcus Torchon

Chair of the District

Marcus is passionate about the church’s prayer life and evangelism. He believes that evangelism begins and ends with prayer.

Rev. Tina Swire

Superintendent Minister & Reverend of Oakhill, Pilton & Wells Methodist Churches

My name is Tina Oates Swire and I am the Superintendent of the Somerset Mendip Methodist Circuit.

Originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, I was ordained in 1992 by the United Church of Canada. I served with them until 2002 when I married my husband John Swire and made the move to England.

I have served within the Methodist Church from 2002 until now and in various parts of the country. I have been the Superintendent of the Somerset Mendip Methodist Circuit since 2017 and have enjoyed it very much.

Rev. Andrew Bell

Reverend of Banwell, Cheddar, Churchill & Congresbury Methodist Churches

Andrew spent his formative years in Norwich. He trained in accountancy and worked for many years as a Financial Administrator for a garage complex in Attleborough. Having trained for the ministry at Wesley House in Cambridge he was sent in 1997 to the wilds of North Yorkshire, where he had charge of eight rural churches in Swaledale.

Further appointments took him to Colchester and North Essex. In September 2024 he accepted an invitation to join the Somerset Mendip Circuit and he now has responsibility for the churches in Churchill, Cheddar, Congresbury and Banwell.

Andrew has three rescue dogs which he enjoys walking in the Mendips. He also attends choral evensong and organ recitals at Wells Cathedral whenever he is able.

Rev. Collin Moore

Reverend of Castle Cary, Keinton Mandeville, Glastonbury, Somerton, Street & Wincanton Methodist Churches

Collin offers a warm welcome from the southern portion of the circuit!

Having managed a dairy farm before ministry he loves serving in Somerset’s beautiful rural setting. He enjoys preaching teaching and leading retreats.

Rev. Andrew Prout

Reverend of Coleford, Frome Wesley, Norton Down & Rode Methodist Churches

Andrew grew up in Exeter and having trained for the ministry in Bristol between 1994-97 has since held appointments in Launceston, Bristol and St. Albans before moving to Frome and the Somerset Mendip Circuit in September of 2023.

Before entering the ministry Andrew worked as a Bank Clerk. He seeks to exercise a strong pastoral ministry as well as one which leads each congregation in living out each day the Good News of Jesus Christ.

In spare time Andrew enjoys walking and following his home team Exeter City which happens to be the only fully supporter owned football club in England.
